The Sandcastle trust launches emergency coronavirus appeal

The current coronavirus pandemic is a challenging and uncertain time for everyone and is a real insight into the isolation, vulnerability and anxiousness that families affected by a rare genetic condition face every day.

The children and adults with genetic disorders that The Sandcastle Trust supports are medically complex and vulnerable and therefore likely to be hit hard by coronavirus. The health and wellbeing of our Sandcastle families is our top priority and so we have had to make the heart-breaking decision to postpone a number of Sandcastle Memories, and at this point we’re not even sure when we will be able to rebook them again. We will of course honour these Sandcastle Memories at a later date, when the situation is clearer, and it is considered safe to do so.

When we come out of the other side of this unprecedented time, we want to be able to provide Sandcastle Memories again to affected families as quickly as possible. However, there is no escaping the reality that cancellation fees, the costs of rebooking Sandcastle Memories and the loss of income from fundraising events that have had to be cancelled will have a huge impact on our small, volunteer run charity and we now face some of our most challenging financial times. The Sandcastle Trust really needs your help. Please consider making a one-off gift or settling up a regular donation.

On behalf of all the families we help, we thank you for your continued support.
