The Tithe Barn is a 5* Gold Award accessible barn conversion located in Ashburton, within the Dartmoor National Park. The barn has been awarded M1 status by the National Accessible Scheme (Visit England) and has wide doorways, a tiled level interior and a ground-floor bedroom with en-suite wet-room. There are two very shallow steps into the porch and also directly into the bedroom from the garden’s patio area, for which shallow ramps for wheelchairs are provided.
The Tithe Barn has a spacious and light open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room with cosy underfloor heating, beautiful oak beams and floor-to-ceiling windows providing views over the garden. The sitting room has comfortable sofas and chairs, 46″ TV, log-effect electric fire, and bi-fold doors opening onto the patio courtyard.
The barn has a modern fully-equipped kitchen and dining table with seating for 8.
The barn has a spacious accessible ground-floor bedroom with a zip-link super-king bed which can be split into two full sized singles if required and French doors with near level access onto the patio. This bedroom also has a modern accessible en-suite wet-room with step-free shower, fixed grab-rail for shower and fixed grab-rail for WC. A shower seat and toilet raiser frame are available, if needed.
The ground-floor also has a utility room with a sink, washing machine and tumble dryer, and a stunning galleried games room with table tennis, darts and a pool table.
There are two further en-suite bedrooms on the first floor. The first has a large superking/twin bedroom with vaulted ceiling and exposed oak beams, French doors (with Juliet safety glass) providing garden and countryside views, and en-suite bathroom with large bath and separate shower.
The second bedroom has south-facing windows and an en-suite bathroom with shower over a large bath.
Guests at The Tithe Barn can enjoy lovely outdoor spaces including a patio courtyard with outdoor dining furniture and gas BBQ, a gateway leading to a pond area with wildlife, and grassed play area with ball games, swing and sand pit, badminton, and outdoor games.
The barn has private parking, external lighting, and the entrance gate can be locked for security. One or two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
The Tithe Barn is set in a beautifully quiet, green valley. It is just a short walk from the historic town of Ashburton with independent local shops and restaurants and is close to the beautiful River Dart Valley. A short drive away is the Jurassic Coast, the South Hams and South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and numerous family activities and attractions.
