The Bank

Description

Set in the peaceful village of Preston-on-Wye, The Bank is a bright, modern and thoughtfully adapted single-storey holiday home that sleeps up to 5 guests plus a baby in three comfortable bedrooms. With its high standard of accessible design, serene lakeside setting and beautiful rural views, it provides a calm base from which to explore the Wye Valley, Black Mountains and the vibrant towns of Hereford and Hay-on-Wye.

Outside, The Bank’s generous driveway offers accessible parking with plenty of space for transfers and equipment loading. The property has level, step-free access at both the front and rear and a spacious balcony area, where you can enjoy the peaceful views of your own private lake.

Inside, the heart of the property is a spacious, open-plan living area with a cosy log burner. With wide doorways, level access, and thoughtfully positioned switches and raised sockets, it’s easy to navigate for wheelchair users, and with WiFi and a TV, it’s a comfortable space for everyone to unwind together.

The fully equipped kitchen has a relaxed open layout and includes adjustable-height worktops, a wheel-under sink, accessible oven and microwave allowing independence throughout the space.

The master bedroom features a profiling bed, open floor space for wheelchair manoeuvrability, and access to its own ensuite wet room which features a roll-in shower, non-slip flooring, WC grab rail and changing-places–style table. A ceiling track hoist enables easy transfer between the bedroom and bathroom.

Two additional ground-floor bedrooms complete the sleeping arrangements: one with a king-size bed and the other with a super-king (zip and link) that can be arranged as two singles. These rooms sit alongside a spacious family bathroom and, like the rest of the property, offer level access, wide doorways, and low-level lighting controls.

A travel cot is available for the youngest visitors, and assistance dogs are warmly welcomed.

The Bank is ideally located for exploring this beautiful region of Herefordshire, sitting midway between the historic city of Hereford and the charming book town of Hay-on-Wye. From peaceful rural surroundings you can easily reach the Wye Valley, the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park, as well as the lively market towns of Ledbury and Ross-on-Wye. Whether you prefer gentle walks, riverside picnics or browsing independent shops and cafés, there’s plenty to enjoy within easy travelling distance.
