Southwaite Green consists of four eco cottages built with an abundance of local timber by local craftsmen that have been given the much acclaimed Gold Award from the Green Tourism Scheme.  All four of the cottages can be booked together for a family or group holiday for up to 20 people.

Buttermere Cottage has been specially adapted with accessibility in mind with level access and interior, and with parking directly outside the front door.  There are two ground floor double bedrooms, one has a wheelchair turning space.  The wheelchair accessible wet room has a step-free shower with fixed handrails, wall-mounted shower seat and hand-held shower. The open plan living area comprises of a well-equipped kitchen which has a lower-level work surface for wheelchair users, a dining area overlooking the garden and a cosy living area with a log burning stove and full length windows. Outside there is a pretty terrace with garden furniture overlooking the beck which enjoys views of the arboretum and surrounding countryside.

Children are welcome and cots, high chairs and stair gates can be provided.  An additional single folding bed will fit in Buttermere for an extra charge of £35 per week.

Southwaite Green is pet friendly. Well behaved dogs are allowed and they will love to explore the 10 acres of enclosed landscaped grounds. There is an extra charge of £3 per pet per day

Southwaite Green lies on the North Western edge of the Lake District, 5 minutes from Cockermouth and 20 to 30 minutes from Keswick, driving. Cockermouth is a lovely 40 minute walk across the fields, beside the river.

Cockermouth is a beautiful little Georgian town with art galleries, museums, cafes, pubs and its own auction house, as well as shops and a supermarket. Keswick is a popular tourist destination on Derwentwater, a little larger than Cockermouth, with plenty to see do, eat and drink.
