The Sandcastle Trust recently collaborated with Great Ormond Street Hospital to put on a party for some families whose children are affected by a group of very rare inherited metabolic disorders called Lysosomal Storage Diseases.
There was wonderful entertainment from The Giggle Company, soft play and a range of fun activities. The specialist nurses at GOSH approached The Sandcastle Trust as they wanted to organise a fun, exciting and positive event at the hospital, and provide an opportunity for the families to meet each other. Having a family member with a rare genetic condition can often be a lonely, isolating experience. Meeting with other families in a similar situation can be a vital avenue of support and result in lasting friendships.
