The Old Farmhouse is a detached eighteenth century, four-bedroomed holiday property situated in the beautiful Cornish countryside at Rivermead Farm. Created when the original farmhouse and a stable were knocked into one, the property has loads of character and retains many of its original features. Although not fully wheelchair accessible as there is one shallow step at the entrance, the property does cater for family members with reduced mobility as there is a large ground floor bedroom with a king-size bed and shower room.
Upstairs there are two further bedrooms and a family bathroom with a bath, separate shower cubicle, toilet, and wash basin. The spacious master bedroom has a king-size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and bedside units. Across the landing, there’s a twin room with beams, two single beds, a dressing table, hanging rail and small drawer units. All the bedrooms face south and capture the best of long sunny days.
A staircase takes you up to the “loft room”. Children love staying in this little bedroom. It has windows facing east and south, a single bed with a pull-out underneath (for an eighth guest), a dressing table, window seat and a built-in cupboard.
Downstairs, The Old Farmhouse has a cosy, oak-beamed sitting room with three comfortable sofas, TV with Freeview and a large, stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. The large, well-equipped kitchen is accessed through the sitting room and is situated at the rear of the cottage. It has large Velux windows letting in plenty of light. There’s a pine table which seats up to eight guests and a settle near the stable-style back door which leads out onto a private, walled yard.
Outside the front of the property, it’s a real suntrap. The benches are a great spot for watching the birds or listening to the sound of the river. There’s a table and seating for those all-important holiday barbecues and a Weber BBQ for your use during your stay.
The stunning grounds at Rivermead Farm offer the perfect escape. There are trees to climb, streams to paddle in, meadows to run through and tree swings to enjoy. The views are wonderful, at any time of the year and the wildlife is amazing (red deer, rabbits, hedgehogs, badgers and a wide range of birds such as buzzards, tits, kingfishers and woodpeckers).
Rivermead Farm Cottages is close to the A38 for easy access but secluded enough to enjoy dark skies and stars and the Cornish countryside. Situated halfway between Bodmin and Liskeard it is perfectly placed as a base for exploring all parts of Cornwall. In under 30 minutes, you could be exploring Bodmin Moor, Looe, Lantic Bay, Fowey, Charlestown, Lanhydrock or Polperro. In under an hour, you could drive to Padstow, Port Isaac, Newquay, Constantine Bay, Mevagissey, St Mawes, Perranporth or Plymouth.
There are 5 other properties available to rent at Rivermead Farm Cottages, two of which, Otter Lodge and Owl Lodge are single-storey suitable for those with reduced mobility.
