Description

Kensington Court, which accommodates the Daisy Chain Project, is a respite holiday programme for special needs young people and their families, which has no restriction on age or the number of visits.  Since the project’s inception in 1999, in excess of 2,700 children have enjoyed a break here with their families.

Kensington Court is a purpose built block of ten two bedroom apartments, with its own car park, situated in the South Shore area of Blackpool.

The apartments are all themed.  The four ground four apartments, Planet Suite, Enchanted Forest, Seaside Dreams and Music Box all have wheelchair access.

Bluebell Wood, Animal Kingdom, Pit Stop and Bunnies’ Burrow are on the first floor and the Wizard’s Wardrobe and the Penthouse Suite on the second floor. The Penthouse Suite is intended for our older, special needs guests who still holiday with their parents.  There are 12 stairs to the first floor and another twelve to the second floor and there is no lift.

The lounges in all the properties have a TV and a DVD player. A limited amount of books and films are also provided for entertainment.

Each apartment’s bathroom has a bath and an over bath shower, except Music Box which has a shower only – a shower chair is provided.

The master bedrooms each have a double bed with room for cot or Z bed if required.  Music Box has a double bed and a day bed, with a three quarter bed in the second bedroom.  One full set of bedding is provided for each bed, if more are required, it must be supplied by the guest, as no housekeeping service is available during the week.

There is a pretty wheelchair friendly garden at the front of the apartments, which can be enjoyed by guests.

Social workers, support groups, hospitals and hospices refer to the Daisy Chain. Parents can also self-refer. Where appropriate, the apartments can be used by families who have lost a child and feel the need for a break, either alone or with other family members.

Holidays at the Daisy Chain Project run from Monday to Sunday and they may consider a two week stay, out of season, the only charge being a nominal application fee.

There is a frequent bus service located just outside the apartments, numerous supermarkets close by that offer onsite parking on level with the shops. Walking distance to the beach is approximately 20 minutes.

Reviews
“We were overwhelmed at how nice and comfortable the apartment was. A lovely area and felt very relaxed and safe. Our two teenagers had a great time at the Pleasure Beach and the attractions. Thank you to everyone at the Daisy Chain. Loved it.”
"The experience of staying at Daisy Chain for the first time has been life changing. The staff and the people we have met have been so kind and showed us that having a special needs child is great, that you are not alone but share a very special experience with very special people".
"Thank you so much, we have had a great time, a real home from home. Our daughter settled in really well, something we struggle with in hotels."
