Description

Beechenhill Farm is a traditional farmhouse on a former organic farm in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Built from local limestone the farmhouse has been added to over the centuries since the 1500’s.  The farm has three beautiful self-catering cottages that can be booked separately or all together for a reunion or family trip for up to 12

The Cottage by the Pond was converted from the farm’s old milking barn and has been designed to be wheelchair accessible with level access from the level parking area and a level interior. The property sleeps six people in three bedrooms and has two bathrooms.

On the ground floor there are two bedrooms with a small en-suite bathroom between them. The first bedroom is a twin with two single electric profiling beds.  The second bedroom has zip-and-link beds which can each be arranged as a superking double or two singles.

The ground floor also has a large wheelchair accessible wet room bathroom with a closomat wash dry toilet, low bath, grab rails and a fold down shower seat in the wheel-in, flat floor shower. There is also extra accessibility equipment listed on their website that you can borrow.

The third bedroom nestles up in the rafters, up a tiny staircase.  It has zip-and-link beds which can be arranged as a superking double or two singles.

There is a well equipped kitchen and large sitting/dining room with a riser reclining chair, log burner and a DVD player. Through large patio windows, the cottage looks south over the little courtyard with outdoor seating, a barbeque you can borrow, a walled pond and the ever-changing Peak District views.

Children are most welcome at The Cottage by the Pond and a cot and high chair are available. Beechenhill Farm also has a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the gardens which for an extra cost starting at £100 can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience.

Beechenhill Farm is located in heart of the beautiful White Peak, beside the spectacular Dovedale Gorge and above the pretty village of Ilam.  There are lots of walks from the door of the cottage and you are within easy distance of loads of brilliant attractions including Chatsworth House,  Haddon Hall,  Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and Coombes Valley RSPB Nature Reserve to name but a few.

Reviews
“Cottage by the Pond. Specially converted for people with limited mobility - exceptionally well equipped, can't fault it. The views are stunning and the hosts very welcoming.”
“Beautiful cottages in gorgeous surroundings in the Peak District, between Buxton and Ashbourne. The six person cottage is well appointed for disabled visitors with easy access bathroom and electric bed and armchair. The decor is tasteful and very comfortable. Bread, fresh made onsite, is available each morning. Still warm on delivery and a real treat. And for a proper pamper, the sauna is lovely too.”
“Incredible place with awesome adaptions for wheelchair users. So many small touches that made our lives easier for 3 wheelchair users. Really lovely people and cottage, will definitely be coming back again. Our party of 5 all said how comfy the beds were. Bonus was being able to see shooting stars at night.”
